An enthusiastic and committed group of people, who love the experiences Molesworth offers as a recreational destination, had been concerned about the future of the hunting experiences and public access to those experiences for some time. 

The impending renewal of the farming lease as the station land was transitioned to a recreation reserve indicated it would be a good time to engage and seek to secure the future of Molesworth as a heritage asset, encouraging the continuation of farming operations but providing for more and better experiences enjoying this unique location in New Zealands high country. 

While hunting and the tradition of hunting sits very close to the hearts of our trustees, it is the experiences lived in vast landscapes with friends or in solitude that drives them to do what they can to protect the opportunities Molesworth provides for all generations to come

Six trustees currently serve the Molesworth Game and Conservation Trust. Their skills and experiences are many and varied, all have a strong background in community involvement and service to others. Hunting has brought them together and Molesworth is a common interest.
