Environmental protection is expensive and time consuming work. Government funding is not guaranteed and often too little to sustain the programs required. Farming in ways that utilise the opportunities to produce goods with value that can offset the costs of maintenance is the smart solution that saves taxpayer dollars, preserves the heritage of a place like Molesworth, yet has no negative impact on the land.
